Welcome to the booking station for Hebridean Life Tours. We offer local, Gaelic speaking guides who have been brought up on the islands and have a wealth of knowledge of the history, culture and way of life of Lewis and Harris. Our tours are 4 hours or 6 hours in length, giving our visitors the opportunity to experience various parts of the destination in comfortable vehicles with knowledgeable guides.

This was a wonderful tour and our guide Alan was very informative and fielded a myriad of questions from our group of 6 people. He was personable, knowledgeable, and truly flexible about allowing our group to make some unplanned stops when we saw something of interest. We saw all of the usual highlights and more, including a very old church, a brief stop to see alpacas and a lunch stop for amazing vegan pizza (“Crust” pizza located in a shipping container). Our day was busy but we never felt rushed. He also tried to time our stops to avoid the large tour buses which was an added bonus. We had a lovely day and would wholeheartedly recommend the tour!

Alan gave an excellent tour, pointing out facts about peat, which is everywhere in the countryside. He explained about agriculture (sheep) along the way. I would not try to take a public bus to this site as service is sporadic. These stones are older than stonehenge. In a day, it is easy enough to see the stones snd also visit Lews Castle if you can sort out the transportation. We didn't have time to visit mountainous Isle of Harris next door, but could see it in distance.
