Hebridean Way - Cycle Transfer Details
If you are taking on the Hebridean Way, we can help you return to your departure port, from the Butt of Lewis to Eriskay.
Cyclists returning to Castlebay in Barra are required to cycle from Ardmhor as we have no transport available on Barra.
• Carriage
• A 20% non-refundable deposit is required on booking. The remaining 80% is payable on the day of travel.
• We can carry up to 8 cycles and riders with one vehicle. Additional transport is available when exceeding 8 riders & cycles.
• Costs for each route are based on the number of cyclists and type of cycles. The booking button will take you to our booking • site and will list all variations and the cost. Where there are more than the listed number requiring transfer two bookings will • be required, one for the maximum number listed and another for the additional number required.
• If 10 cycles then it will be the cost of 8 and the cost of 2 added together. All prices are totals for group sizes, not per person.
• The increased cost for over 6 bikes to Eriskay is due to the ferry crossing between Leverburgh and Berneray being required • for the vehicle and trailer. Where there are more than 8 bikes, any cost over this will apply as listed in the pricing table.
• On Lewis & Harris, up to 8 electric bikes may be carried throughout Lewis and Harris but this will incur a £5 levy per cycle.
• Between Berneray and Eriskay, electric cycles are limited to 4 unless there is a minimum of 7 cycles requiring transport.
• An additional £5 levy per electric cycle will be incurred on this leg of the journey.
• Travel
• Cycle transfers are available Monday to Saturday only.
• For lone cyclist travelling Butt of Lewis-Stornoway or Stornoway-Tarbert, please consider using local bus services where • available. On other routes smaller coaches are used so may not be able to carry cycles.
• Where transfer includes the Sound of Harris ferry crossing, collection times prior to sailing are:
• Butt of Lewis – 3 hours before departure; Stornoway – 2 hours before departure.
• Leverburgh ferry departure times: June, July & August – 08:15 & 10:45; April, May & September – 08:15 & 11:40
• (timings may be affected by tidal conditions).
• Eriskay ferry departure times are at 1300 or 1635 daily. Your sailing will depend on your departure time from Leverburgh.
• If taking the 1045/1140 sailing from Leverburgh you may have up to 3 hours wait on Eriskay, prior to the Barra sailing.
•
• For cyclists travelling from Lewis to Eriskay, transport is in 2 legs: Lewis to Leverburgh, and Berneray to Eriskay.
• The first vehicle will drop off at Leverburgh and clients will be picked up again in Berneray by another vehicle.
• The service terminates at Eriskay Ferry Terminal.
• If travelling to Barra, please ensure passenger tickets have been booked for both ferries in advance of travel!!
